I'm Mad (And Spoiled) As Hell About the U.S. Economy

Can we agree on one thing? The economy sucks.  I’m asking you – business people of the United States. What are we going to do? Where are the town meetings? The massive education re-tooling we need? Where is the commaraderie and the collaboration? Where is the plan or solution(s) to turn our economy around in the U.S.? I just heard a statistic on Bill Maher that most Americans cannot scrape $2000 together without selling items they own.  I’m not sure of the number of people with storage units, filled with stuff, in the U.S., but pretty sure the number is astounding.  A fact I’m not too proud of is that I have stuff stored in Texas and N.J.   I’m not a bad person, but I have been comfortably spoiled… While watching the first U.S. Republican Debate […]

Research has shown (my own research as well as others) that having an advisory board can make all the difference in business success and yes, even in personal endeavors. Master mind groups, advisory boards, boards of directors, you name it, listening and responding to a group of qualified individuals whom you trust and respect can produce big dividends. Three keys to success: 1. Determine what the purpose of your board will be. Is it a focus group for a new product or service ? Is it a group of advisors who will advise you on growing a business or your career? 2. Outline the benefits/commitments to those serving on the board. Final exams. Ah, what a joyous season!  Visions of strong coffee and junk food dancing in our stomachs…Tis the season of overachieving and making the best grades… Here are tips from Cinderella, who had her own “version” of exams…while reaching the Palace of her dreams. 1. Don’t bring the wolf to your door by being sleep deprived or neglecting yourself. Drink water – not just diet Coke. Give yourself a break with an afternoon walk or run – exchange back massages. Stimulate the economy. Splurge on a manicure, if you can afford it. Stir up your endorphins.  It’s important to be at your physical best during this time.
